2008 Woman of the Year

Carolyn Maloney

2008 Woman of the Year

The person of the year award is given each year to an individual who has continued to keep September 11, 2001 issues “alive” in peoples’ hearts and minds. This year we are honored to give this award to our first woman the Honorable Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney.

Since September 11, 2001, Congress woman Carolyn Maloney has stood next to the families of the victims and fought on our behalf for the things that were just and right. She has never forgotten our pain and our grief. Congresswoman Maloney has supported the families at rallies and spoken in our behalf at Congress for things like proper burial, the memorial, the placement of the names and providing services for the many rescue workers who are now so terribly ill. Families are so very grateful that she stood by our side as we tried so desperately to find some justice for our loved ones. We will never be able to repay her kindness or her generosity or her compassion. We can only humbly honor her tonight at our 7th Annual Scholarship Dinner Dance.

In addition to the 9/11 families, she have represented everyone in their time of need. Her record speaks volumes of her compassion for not only her constituents but also for all America. Her fight regarding border patrol issues and immigration and decent housing and our veterans and our ailing rescue workers are just a few examples of the compassionate and caring person we are honored to call our Congresswoman.

Most of the September 11th families know that they can call upon her to stand with them regarding the Memorial issues and the re-building of lower Manhattan. She is one of only a few voices who has heard our concerns and has acted in Congress to bring up issues that others would like us to forget.

We are honored to call her our friend. We feel blessed that she represent us. We can think of no better person to become our first Woman of the Year than Carolyn Maloney.

We hope to stand with her in the future on those issues that will help America become a safer, place.

Thank you, Carolyn, for all that you have done and continue to do on our behalf. Congratulations on being our first Woman of the Year.
